Each summer, millions of people all over America make plans to celebrate our country’s independence on the 4th of July. With endless options from small family gatherings to large fireworks viewings, it is safe to say that there is something out there for everyone.
Choosing to host a 4th of July party is often a great way to bring family and friends together, but brings with it some responsibilities.

There are likely rules prohibiting this, and you do not want to do anything that will jeopardize your chances of keeping your wonderful apartment. Just make sure that your apartment complex is okay with you using sparklers.
If your apartment complex has grills you can use, you’re in luck! Lighting up the grill is about as American as any tradition, as just the smell of a roaring grill is enough to bring back memories of past gatherings.
Make sure everyone is able to safely and thoroughly enjoy your grilled up delights by never leaving the grill unsupervised. Use long handled utensils to reduce the chance of a burn. Make sure that young children and pets stay a safe distance from the flame.
For those who are lucky enough to have a pool at their apartment complex, it is vitally important to preach safe swimming practices. Swimming pools and 4th of July parties go hand-in-hand, so make sure every gets the most out of the celebration in a safe manner.
Never leave swimmers unsupervised, no matter their age. It is also a great idea to make sure young children are always adequately coated in sunblock, as a mid-summer Middle Tennessee sun can wreak havoc on their skin. Consult your child’s doctor for their recommended SPF level.
Adults have always enjoyed holiday gatherings in ways that young children simply can’t. Remember: drinking and driving is a serious offense that will not only land you in jail, but also put your life and the lives of others in extreme danger.
With all the activity happening on the 4th of July, be safe and either designate a driver or just simply do not partake. It is a very serious matter than should be prepared for and dealt with the safety of yourself and others in mind.
